Love Island star Mitchel Taylor has spoken out about claims that he made homophobic comments at an event which came to light last year - revealing that he lost a number of business opportunities as a result. The reality star, who is making his TV comeback on Love Island: All Stars, faced accusations in September that he had been "abusive" to a homeless man and called "homophobic" following an alleged incident at a Space NK makeup event.
Mitchel, 27, denied the accusations in a statement on social media and explained his side of the story, however he was dropped by his management team shortly afterwards.
Speaking about the claims ahead of entering All Stars, Mitchel said that he was "never worried" about being "cancelled" by the public as he was "never homophobic". "It absolutely crushed me the fact that I got labelled as that and it's not only that - the LGBTQ+ community thought I was that as well," he said. "Obviously I did bring a TikTok out.
I put a story on saying what exactly happened, and obviously all the heat on me got pushed away," he added. "The [Love Island] producers know me.They had a microphone on me for eight, eight-and-a-half weeks. They know I'm not homophobic.
