Lockdown blamed for increase in waste generated by Lanarkshire households last year

Households across Lanarkshire generated more than 300,000 tonnes of waste during 2020 and around 40 per cent of it was recycled.Encouragingly the amount recycled comes despite an increase in the amount generated because of the pandemic and lockdown.Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) statisticians published official figures this week which provide detail of household waste collected across all local authorities during 2020, as well as waste landfilled and incinerated.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
