A lifer launched a vicious unprovoked attack on a warder in trouble-torn Addiewell Prison, a court heard.Jack Cruz flew into a rage after prison officer Andrew Morton objected to being called “a daftie” during an argument over the inmate’s mail.Livingston Sheriff Court heard that a letter addressed to Cruz in the West Lothian jail had been found to contain £200 of stamps.Claire Nicholl, prosecuting, said Cruz approached the desk and asked for the letter but Morton refused to hand it over.She said: “The accused informed the witness Morton that he would get the stamps and called the witness ‘a daftie’.“The witness said to him, ‘Don’t call me a daftie’.At this point the accused became aggressive and, without warning, moved towards Mr Morton
