Laurence Fox has issued an apology to journalist Ava Evans over his comments on GB News. The former actor and broadcaster Dan Wootton has been embroiled in scandal this week following his offensive comments about political journalist Ava Evans on Wootton's show.

At the start of the week, Evans discussed men's mental health and suicide on BBC's Politics Live show - which led to Fox launching a vile tirade of abuse towards the journalist. In the sexist rant, Fox mocked Evans, publicly humiliating her, as he asked the offensive question: "Who'd want to s**g that?" Also described Evans as a "little woman" and declared: "We don't need this sort of feminist 4.0" which he said is "pathetic and embarrassing", reports the Mirror.Wootton and Fox received huge backlash online, with GB News later suspending Wootton - who is a regular face on the outlet.

Soon, Wootton was suspended and his contract with MailOnline was terminated a day later. Now, following days of controversial tweets and an unwillingness to back down on his comments, Laurence issued an apology to journalist Evans during a 15-minute video shared on Twitter.Taking to the platform on Thursday evening, Fox explained he knows that GB News are going to sack him tomorrow, but he wanted to clear his own conscience by apologising to Ava Evans for using the word 's**g' in his rant.

However, he said that he did stand by what he said in telling all self-respecting men to 'run a mile' from her.In his apology video, Fox also called out Wooton for 'throwing him under the bus' after the actor-turned-journalist said that he had supported Dan for weeks on end amid ongoing allegations about him.
