Voters across Lanarkshire are getting set to go to the polls this summer after prime minister Rishi Sunak’s surprise announcement of a July 4 general election.Ballots will be cast in the eight redrawn constituencies covering North and South Lanarkshire, with at least two new MPs set to head to Westminster after current representatives announced they would be standing down.The area’s current MPs have been responding to the suddenly-announced election timetable; including encouraging voters to ensure they have the now-required photo ID and encouraging those who will be on holiday on polling day – eight days after Lanarkshire schools have closed for summer – to apply for postal votes.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
