Lack of hot water at Bannatyne Health Club and Spa Perth draws member complaints

Members of Perth’s Bannatyne Health Club and Spa have faced cold showers due to an issue with the hot water supply.Perth and Kinross Council’s environmental health team received complaints over hygiene concerns with members unable to shower between using the gym, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and swimming pool.Bannatyne Group has insisted “safe and running hot water is available” but “may be a little cooler” at peak times.A spokesperson for Bannatyne Health Club and Spa has promised work to increase its hot water capacity “will be completed as soon as possible”.But health club users say the issue has gone on for months, despite reporting the issue and lodging complaints.Annual membership currently costs from around £516 to £636.One mum recently said she cancelled her membership for her and her children as “it’s so cold” she can’t take them swimming.One local couple said the inconsistent hot water supply for the showers, washing facilities and - less regularly - the fluctuating temperature of the swimming pool water “has been going on for several months”.They added: “The lack of a consistent supply of hot water is putting off some members from making their usual use of the club - membership of which is not cheap.“Latterly, signs were put up around the club to inform members that the water heating system required repairs which were due to be carried out by January 28, 2024.“After January 28 - when we asked at reception - we were told that the repair work was being rescheduled.”It is understood the problems with the water temperature initially started in 2022.A Tripadvisor review of a visit to the gym in November 2022 points to the energy crisis as the reason and highlighted an issue with the sauna temperature as well.The
