Kyren Wilson has revealed he told Scottish snooker legend John Higgins to "sod off" after he’d thumped the Englishman to reach the quarter-final of the World Snooker Championships.Wilson was well beaten by the four-time champion during their match at the Crucible in Sheffield but could walk away £55,000 better off after bagging a 147 in his previous match against Ryan Day.

At one point during the Higgins/Wilson encounter the Scot looked to be on for a maximum himself but came up short. If he managed to secure his second 147 then Wilson would have been forced to share the prize money.Speaking to Eurosport after his 13-2 loss Wilson reacted to the chance by the Wizard from Wishaw to get the maximum.

He said: "Yes, I just said 'sod off mate', I'm always delighted for people when they do well, but - I'm going to lie - I was willing for him to miss!"Wilson was out of sorts during the match and was visibly upset with his cue which he dropped.

He added: "I was (having cue problems) but that wasn't the reason I lost. "After the first session, I always like to spend time with the fans there was lots of fans waiting outside that wanted autographs and pictures.
