Jim Goodwin backs Stephen McGinn to make big impact for St Mirren on return from injury

Jim Goodwin has backed club captain Stephen McGinn to play a big part in St Mirren’s push for Premiership survival. The influential midfielder has been missing since December with a knee injury picked up in a 1-0 win over relegation rivals Hamilton.

Having now resumed training with his Buddies, Goodwin believes the 31-year-old can make a big difference on his return to action at the business end of the campaign.

He told Express Sport: “Stephen is back in training.
