St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin says health is more important than sport in battle to stop coronavirus

St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin insists Scottish football will have to fall in line with Europe as it combats the spread of coronavirus – even if that means a worst-case scenario of scrapping the rest of the Premiership season.The outbreak of the disease has already caused games in Italy’s Serie A to be played behind closed doors, while rugby has seen games booted into touch altogether with cancellations in this year’s Six Nations.

Goodwin is currently preparing his side for a pivotal clash with relegation rivals Hearts tomorrow night that could define both clubs’ seasons.

But he insists the health and well-being of everyone involved with football in this country must come first, even if that means a last resort of calling time on the current
