However, shortly after the news broke, Jermaine appeared on TalkSport's Drive show with Jermaine Pennant, which kicked off at 4pm (UK time) right after the news of his BBC exit hit the headlines.
Jermaine has previously been a guest but not a lead presenter on TalkSport.The station has yet to respond to requests for comment, reports the Mirror.
Social media was abuzz with surprised listeners upon hearing his voice, as one wrote: "Thought it was a joke, but Jenas is LITERALLY ON AIR with Talksport as this is unfolding!" However, Mail Sport understands that Jermaine was set to appear on the show again tomorrow, but will not be featuring.
Jermaine's tenure at the BBC saw him in various roles, from Match of the Day punditry to co-hosting The One Show, last seen with Alex Jones on 22 July.
