In an interview with OK! in 2019, James opened up on his relationship with Gill, revealing that he had previously proposed to her, as he admitted that he "wouldn't be here without her." He explained: "We’ve been through everything together.
She’s been there from the start when I had nothing, when I was just playing gigs and trying to write songs and not getting anywhere.
