Imelda May ‘meant no offence’ to Travellers by posing in front of wagon

Imelda May has said she did not mean to cause offence to Travellers after posting a picture of herself in front of a wagon she bought to ‘honour my grandmother’.

The chart-topper from Dublin received backlash online with many people taking issue with May using a piece of Traveller culture for a photo op.

The Liberties belle May, 46, used the image to promote 11 Past The Hour, Imelda’s forthcoming sixth studio album but didn’t foresee the comments that many Travellers and advocates posted.

May tweeted the picture of herself sitting by her wagon with the message: ‘Eddie Otchere took this photo for “11 Past the Hour” as I sat by my beloved bowtop.
