A new four-star hotel in Glasgow has opened on the site of an "iconic" Grade-A listed building that has stood on the banks of the River Clyde for more than 180 years.

The Clayton Hotel Glasgow City has "breathed new life" into the historic Custom House building on Clyde Street. Featuring "stylish" interiors that celebrate period architecture, the refurbished listed building serves as the hotel's entrance.

It features a reception area, a public space, and a ballroom, as well as event spaces. Connected to the historic building via a glazed ceiling, the new "ultra-modern" hotel includes the Custom House Bar & Restaurant.

The hotel stands 16 storeys high, and offers a "striking juxtaposition" of the old and new.
