‘iCarly’ star Jennette McCurdy is ‘courageous’ for exposing her childhood trauma in memoir, Kel Mitchell says

Kel Mitchell is praising fellow Nickelodeon alum, Jennette McCurdy, for releasing her shocking tell-all, "I’m Glad My Mom Died." "Everyone has a different story and the way that they want to tell their story and express themselves – and to get it out – that’s definitely important," the 43-year-old told Page Six on Tuesday. "I remember what she went through when her mom passed around that time," the comedian recalled. "So [I love] hearing her tell her story and being courageous with that." According to McCurdy’s book, she was "exploited" as a child actress on Nickelodeon’s "iCarly" and "Sam & Cat," which featured Mitchell.The 30-year-old said her overbearing mother and the television industry "failed to protect her," according to the New York Times.

And also cases where they did — they knew exactly what they were doing." At the age of 16, McCurdy was entering her third year on the hit teen sitcom "iCarly," where she made millions of young viewers laugh by playing the comedic character, Sam Puckett.
