Like many community groups that have seen funding streams dry up in recent years, the Big Local in Little Hulton spends a portion of its year looking for help to keep its activities afloat.

The Salford-based organisation manages projects for the entire community in Little Hulton - one of England’s most deprived areas - and more than 80 youngsters come through the doors of its youth club each week.

But a funding boost in recent months came from an unlikely source - £2,500 from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) that the force linked directly back to their swoop on multiple cannabis farms in the city.
