HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has confirmed changes to payment dates for some people expecting their Tax Credits this week. There are two types of Tax Credits - Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit - with payments made every week or every four weeks.

Claimants choose how often they would prefer to receive payments when they make their initial claim. However, HMRC has confirmed to the Daily Record that payments due on Friday, March 18 will be paid on Thursday, March 17 and payments due on Thursday, March 17 will be paid today (March 16), for claimants in Scotland and England - you can view all future payment date changes on GOV.UK here.

HMRC recently issued a warning to 7,500 Tax Credits, Child Benefit and Guardian’s Allowance claimants informing them they only have two weeks left to switch their Post Office card account (POca) or payments will stop.

HMRC will stop making payments to Post Office card accounts after April 5, 2022, which means those currently collecting their payments through POCa must notify HMRC of their new account details as soon as possible, so they don’t miss out on vital payments.
