Scots dad battling cancer for second time spent weeks alone in hospital

A Scots dad diagnosed with cancer for a second time was separated from his family as he had to undergo a stem cell transplant during lockdown.

John Tod, from Midlothian, described the experience as "extremely isolating" as he wasn't allowed visitors for three months.

The 41-year-old initially believed he had a viral infection and swollen glands when he was first diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2018.

Dad-of-three John was then quickly taken into hospital for gruelling treatment as he underwent 60 rounds of chemotherapy due to the aggressive nature of the cancer.
