Hearts and Partick Thistle hit with SFA fine as clubs rapped over SPFL court case

Partick Thistle have both been hit with an SFA fine after being found guilty of breaching the rules of association by taking the SPFL to court.

The pair were relegated when the 2019-20 season was ended early, and after reconstruction talks failed they went down the legal route.

The court of session in Edinburgh referred the matter to the SFA for arbitration, and their relegations were confirmed in a unanimous decision for the SPFL.

Their decision also brought a notice of complaint, as rule 78 of the articles of association state "No member or associated person shall take a dispute which is referable to arbitration in terms of Article 99 to a court of law".Hearts and Thistle could even theoretically have been expelled by the governing body,.
