Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been warned that their desire to rub shoulders with Hollywood A-listers by using their royal status is becoming “untenable”.The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been hobnobbing with some of the celebrity world’s biggest names since they moved to their Montecito mansion in California following their decision to step down as working royals in 2020.

With well-known neighbours in the area including the likes of Ellen Degeneres, Cameron Diaz and Oprah Winfrey, there is no shortage of potential elite pals nearby.

And the pair have been busy schmoozing over the past few months, attending a range of high-profile events and enjoying meals out with huge stars.

But after their efforts to highlight what happens in the royal family behind closed doors, with the release of Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare earlier this year and the couple’s 2022 six-part Netflix documentary, the general public started to become a bit less than impressed. And, according to one royal expert, Harry’s family are also unhappy with the pair’s exploits across the pond, as writes the Express.Tom Quinn, author of Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, said: "The whole emphasis between King Charles and Prince William is that you cannot go against the late Queen's firm belief that you can't be a part-time royal."You can't hobnob with celebrities in America for six months and then come back here and pick and choose which events you want to be part of.
