Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie is on track to be one of the hottest movies of the year. Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, it is racking up positive reviews and winning big at the box office after premiering this week.

However, during a recent interview the director revealed a scene that she faced pressure to cut from the movie before it hit theaters.

She explained why she refused and opened up about what role it played in her vision of the movie. Read more about the Barbie scene in question… The scene Greta was asked to cut happens shortly after Barbie enters the human world from Barbie Land.

In it, she is sitting at a bus station and tells an older woman nearby that she is beautiful. “I love that scene so much. And the older woman on the bench is the costume designer Ann Roth,” Greta told Rolling Stone earlier this month. “It’s a cul-de-sac of a moment, in a way — it doesn’t lead anywhere.
