Celtic hero Frank McAvennie claimed Rangers’ showing was their WORST at Parkhead as he accused Ibrox legend Graeme Souness of “trying to put a different spin on it”.

McAvennie couldn’t believe how bad Philippe Clement’s men performed in the east end of Glasgow and praised ex Rangers striker Kris Boyd for his damning post-match verdict in pulling no punches in the Sky Sports studio.

Boyd later said that the Celtic substitutes were better than half of the Rangers starting line up but Souness was more positive as he played down the size of the gap and trotted out the same statistics as Gers boss Clement after the game which, on paper, suggested Celtic’s display wasn’t as dominant as the 3-0 scoreline suggested.

McAvennie told Football Insider: “Honestly, if it was a boxing match it would have been stopped. Celtic battered them. It’s the worst I’ve seen from a Rangers team, they never laid a glove on Celtic, it’s the worst I’ve seen from them at Celtic Park for a long time. “Kris Boyd said it perfectly.
