GP referrals for patients with cancer symptoms have returned to normal levels following a 50pc fall during the first wave of the coronavirus crisis in Salford.In April and May, referrals to cancer services were below 50pc of what they would usually be but since August, they have been at pre-pandemic levels.Salford's clinical commissioning group (CCG) governing body was told this week that since September, referrals have been slightly higher than normal.It comes as CCG chair, Tom Tasker, said demand for health services is as high as he has ever known in his 20 years of practising as a GP in Salford.But Dr Tasker said there is some concern in Greater Manchester about lung cancer diagnoses not returning to normal levels which could be due to.
