Gary Neville believes Liverpool and Chelsea should still have hope of catching Manchester City as he expects the title race to ‘get close’.
Despite dropping points at the weekend, City are still firmly in the driving seat to retain their Premier League crown with nine-point lead over their closest rivals.
That gap could be whittled down to six points though, with Liverpool holding a game in hand, but with City’s showing their ability to go on remarkable runs of form over the past few years, many still feel this season’s race is over.
Neville though disagrees, and expects Liverpool and Chelsea to run Pep Guardiola’s side close until the end of the campaign. “I think Liverpool are doing really well without two of their main players [Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane],” Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast. “Things like [City’s 1-1 draw at Southampton] give a little bit of encouragement.
