A busy Lanarkshire community organisation is getting youngsters kitted out for sports, summer and school thanks to a new shoe-sharing initiative.Diamonds in the Community are running a free football boot swap shop, allowing players and their families to exchange outgrown footwear for larger sizes.Launched at the start of the school holiday, it has already expanded to include children’s trainers and school shoes, while winter jackets for the term ahead are also available thanks to a successful county-wide initiative last year.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

It operates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 2pm, and anyone needing footwear or jackets can attend to take what they need without the need for a referral.

The project was launched amid the cost of living crisis to help youngsters and families attending summer activity camps and has already proved popular – while organisers say it also has a positive environmental impact.
