A man flytipped an old mattress onto a street just 30 seconds away from the tip in Salford. A CCTV camera caught Mark Beech dumping the mattress from his white Ford Transit van onto Harding Street at around 4.30pm on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

The Cobden Street Recycling Centre sits just metres away. The 34-year-old was interviewed in January this year by an officer from Salford City Council's Environmental Crime Investigations team.

He admitted that he was the owner of the van and was driving it at the time. Join our WhatsApp Top Stories and Breaking News group by clicking this link. He also admitted dumping the mattress, the council said.

He was charged under the Environmental Protection Act and was handed a £300 fine court. This was reduced to £200 due to 'his early admission of guilt'.
