A child spectator and a footballer have been injured after 'protesters' launched flares into Bury AFC's ground during an FA Cup qualifier.

Officers are appealing for witnesses following the incident at the Neuven Stadium, in Radcliffe, at around 1pm today (September 3).

Greater Manchester Police says it received reports that a group of male protesters outside were throwing flares inside the stadium, during Bury AFC's fixture with North Shields.

The flares caused minor injuries to both a player and a child spectator. A heavy police presence remains in the area following the fixture, which kicked off at 12.30pm.
