Falklands War veteran haunted by horrors of conflict launches campaign for Scots charity

A Royal Navy veteran who was only a teenager during the Falklands War yesterday said he is still haunted by horrific scenes he witnessed in the conflict.

Craig “Mac” McDermott was just 17 during the ferocious battle of the Falklands War. He said: “I will always be scarred by all that I have seen but I will always remember those who were not as lucky as me.”Craig, originally from Sheffield, was on board the destroyer HMS Antrim when the 1982 conflict erupted into full-blown warfare around the island of South Georgia.Now he is launching a campaign for the Scotland-based veterans’ charity Erskine to mark this year’s Remembrance Day.He said: “When I first heard of the Falkland Islands, like many people I thought they were just off the north
