Ex Worsley MP Terry Lewis survives coronavirus, aged 84

Former Salford MP, Terry Lewis, has spoken of his relief after "coming through" the coronavirus. The 84-year-old who represented Worsley, until his retirement in 2005, was being treated at Salford Royal Hospital after suffering a stroke when he contracted COVID-19. "I had been in hospital for about four weeks, being rehabilitated after the stroke. "I then started with a bit of a sniffle, nothing more, and a bit of a temperature. "I was put on a side ward while they did tests, and to the staff's surprise they came back positive. "Then I was moved to an isolation ward where I was with four other patients.

In there the staff wore all of the heavy protective clothing and masks all the time. "I had a bit of a cough, but no breathlessness.
