England cricket icon Graham Thorpe tragically took his own life after a long battle with depression and anxiety, his heartbroken wife has revealed. The England and Wales Cricket Board shared the sad news on August 5 that Graham had died, leaving behind his wife Amanda and their two daughters Kitty, 22, and Emma, 19, along with his first wife Nicky and their children Henry and Amelia.

In an emotional interview with The Times, Amanda said: "Despite having a wife and two daughters whom he loved and who loved him, he did not get better.

He was so unwell in recent times and he really did believe that we would be better off without him and we are devastated that he acted on that and took his own life".

A touching tribute was also paid to Graham on Saturday in Farnham, where he played for Surrey for 17 years and achieved 100 Test caps for England as a talented middle-order batsman, with a minute's silence observed before the start of Farnham Cricket Club's game against Chipstead Cricket Club.
