Today marks the start of Endometriosis Awareness Month.Endometriosis is a common, sometimes debilitating but often ignored gynaecological disease.

The conditions affects one in ten women and those assigned female at birth between puberty and menopause, although the impact may be felt for life.Symptoms often range from painful periods and chronic pelvic pain to pain during or after sex as well as toilet trouble and fatigue.

Unfortunately, symptoms can include difficultly falling pregnant. The type and severity of symptoms experienced varies depending on where the endometriosis is growing.

In a bid to help women get diagnosed and therefore receive treatment, Endometriosis UK is urging anyone experiencing painful periods and pelvic pain to get in touch with their doctor.
