K.J. Yossman Ewan McGregor is set to star in “A Gentleman in Moscow,” the adaptation of Amor Towles’ novel, for Paramount+ and Showtime. McGregor, who has previously starred in the Star Wars franchise and “Halston,” will play Count Alexander Rostov who finds himself going from riches to rags following the Russian revolution. K.J. Yossman Paramount+’s chief content officer and Paramount TV boss for scripted originals has revealed the streamer is working on a documentary about Louis C.K., the disgraced comedian who stepped back from public life after he was caught up in the #MeToo movement. According to Nevins it will involve the New York Times reporters who broke the story that Louis C.K. had been accused of sexual misconduct by five women. “Louis CK is a slightly different situation [to Harvey Weinstein] and a great, great comedian who has come back in his own way,” said Nevins during a talk at the Edinburgh TV Festival in Scotland on Thursday morning. “I don’t think the social change that #MetToo has brought about is resolved at all,” Nevins said. “There’s a bit of backlash against #MeToo, who has to go away and who’s allowed to come back.”

Phoebe Bridgers, Limp Bizkit‘s Fred Durst and Snail Mail will star in an upcoming horror film called I Saw The TV Glow.The movie, which is fronted by actors Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine, has a strong musical contingent in the production with Durst, Lindsey Jordan (aka Snail Mail), Haley Dahl’s Sloppy Jane (featuring Bridgers), and King Woman on the roll-call. Bridgers was a former Sloppy Jane bassist before forging her path as a solo artist.According to the logline (via The Hollywood Reporter) the film is based on two teenage outcasts (played by Smith and Lundy-Paine) who bond over their shared love of a scary television show.

Mama Mia, a 7-year-old beagle rescue, was one of roughly 4,000 dogs who were rescued from the Envigo facility in July.  The Cumberland, Virginia, facility – where dogs were found injured, underfed and sick – was accused of multiple ethics violations from federal agencies. Animal rights activists say the canines were abused under the guise of medical research.

Its first still has also been shared with Variety. “We are thrilled to be working with Thea and Einar Film on this exciting genre project, [one] that will be spine-chilling and moving at the same time. Christopher Vourlias Producer Ilya Stewart has launched an independent studio based in Europe that will operate on a global scale, working with international talent and focusing on English-language feature films and television series, Variety can exclusively reveal. Hype Studios is the new venture from Stewart, the formerly Moscow-based producer who in recent years has been a fixture at the Cannes Film Festival, where his collaborations with Russian auteur Kirill Serebrennikov, including “Petrov’s Flu” and “Tchaikovsky’s Wife,” have premiered in competition. Among the co-productions with American and European partners currently on Hype Studios’ slate is Zach Wigon’s “Sanctuary,” starring Margaret Qualley and Christopher Abbott, which premieres as a Special Presentation next month at the Toronto International Film Festival and was produced with Rumble Films and Mosaic Films, along with Charades. Also on the slate is Pietro Marcello’s French-language “Scarlet,” produced in partnership with CG Cinéma’s Charles Gillibert, which opened this year’s Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes and will receive its North American premiere at the New York Film Festival.
