A Stirling University student has spoken of his own family’s devastating experience during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.Earlier this year, Keir Morton raised thousands of pounds for pancreatic cancer research, in memory of his dad Alistair, who died on New Year’s Day this year, little more than two weeks after diagnosis.Latest data from Public Health Scotland showed nearly 1000 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Scotland a year, with around 50 of those coming from Forth Valley.It has the lowest survival rate of all of the 20 most common cancers in the UK, with just five per cent of people living for five years or more after diagnosis in Scotland.Research has shown many of the symptoms are described as “vague” and are often
