A man who left his flea infested dog to suffer before its tragic death had a hole dug in the garden ready to bury it. David Littlefare made a call to the RSPCA requesting for his pet Pippa to be put down due to serious illness.

When a volunteer arrived at the 25-year-old's home, she found the white West Highland Terrier barely breathing and weak, covered in scabs and with rotting teeth.

Pippa died en route to the animal charity's Goole centre, Hull Live reports. Littlefare, of of Pearson Street, Goole, appeared before Hull Magistrates' Court on Friday (January 14) with his ex-girlfriend Olivia Watson, 22, of Moorland Road, Goole.
