Wallace Monument trustees have hit back at suggestions by Stirling Council’s leader that their dedication to the attraction was at the expense of wider benefits to Stirling tourism.In a letter to the Observer, Stirling District Tourism chair Zillah Jamieson said she wanted to “set the record straight” on comments made by council leader Scott Farmer in Wednesday’s paper following news the council was taking over the running of the attraction from November.And she described his offer of an “open door” to further talks as a “welcome contrast”, saying they had previously requested a meeting with him only to be told they would have to speak with council officers.Councillor Farmer had denied the monument was being seen as a 'cash cow' and said
