Cost to run air fryers and slow cookers' compared to ovens and microwaves

With the new energy price cap now in place, many are eager to switch to energy saving appliances in order to cut costs and reduce bills.

Sales of air fryers and slow cookers have boosted, but there is still questions as to whether they are cheaper to run than the classics like ovens and microwaves.

The team at Hometree have compared costs of running cooking appliances by looking at which ones use the least amount of energy, and have revealed Aldi’s £20 slow cooker which has been flying off shelves, to be the most cost efficient at just 5p per hour to run.

To calculate estimates of appliance energy use, you need to multiply its power rating in kW by the number of minutes/hours it’s left on.
