A business collapsed after a unscrupulous employee splurged £12,000 of company funds on clothes and perfume. Olivia Briscoe's offences had a 'significant' impact on the finance of metal polish firm AMP and wellbeing of its boss, Birmingham Crown Court heard.

The 60-year-old plundered cash from the Bloxwich company where she held the role of general manager, with her crimes carried out between June 2012 and December 2013, according to Birmingham Live.

Briscoe, who had previous convictions and served jail time, was a former co-worker of her boss's wife at a coffee shop and had access to the company bank accounts, despite never being the subject of any background checks.She made around 100 withdrawals at cashpoints, taking out more than
