Coronavirus Scotland: Significant rise in confirmed Ayrshire COVID-19 deaths

A total of 159 Ayrshire and Arran residents have died as a result of contracting coronavirus. The figures released today by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) takes into account COVID-19 deaths up to Sunday, April 26.The news means that 39 patients in the region have died in a week.

Today's figures also revealed 62 Ayrshire and Arran care home residents have died as a result of contracting coronavirus - a rise of 18 since last week.As of Sunday there have been a total of 2,272 deaths registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate - 886 of those died in Scottish care homes.
