Union leaders are demanding better protection for workers after claims of chaos on the first full day of school closures. Public sector staff including teachers, cleaners and caterers have been left in limbo while councils try to interpret Scottish Government guidance.
Teachers union the EIS said some schools were closed while others were “open more widely”, with teachers expected to report for duty.
