Cops hunting Scots prisoner on the run after escaping custody on way to hospital

Police are hunting a prisoner who escaped custody while being transported to hospital. Steven Ross, 33, was being escorted from HMP Addiewell to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at around 5.20pm on Wednesday when he fled.

Members of the public are advised not to approach Ross but to contact police immediately.It is understood staff were threatened by the prisoner but there were no serious injuries.

Police said they believe Ross has links to the Greater Glasgow area. Ross is white, 5ft 9in and of slim build. He has dark brown hair with a distinctive tramline cut.He was last seen wearing a dark jumper and shorts, and Nike trainers with a lime green sole.
