Ayrshire and Arran were waiting for a mental health service appointment at the end of last year, new statistics show.Government data reveals that at the end of 2020, a total of 249 people were still waiting for CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) treatment – that's an increase of 10 per cent compared to the previous year’s figure of 227.In Ayrshire and Arran during 2020, there were 1,758 referrals to CAMHS but 476 of those referrals were rejected, representing 27 per cent.The total number of patients seen by CAMHS was 1,075, however, 60 of those were forced to wait over the legal waiting time target of 18 weeks for an appointment.South Scotland MSP Colin Smyth admitted that the slip in waiting times in Ayrshire and Arran is a.
