A Cambuslang councillor has added her voice to calls for South Lanarkshire Council to change how planning decisions are currently made.Margaret Walker has insisted that “a voice” needs to be given back to locals.Last week, the Reformer reported how community councils, Councillor Robert Brown and MSP James Kelly have questioned the current process, which has seen emergency powers granted to the local authority’s chief executive Cleland Sneddon.
Mr Sneddon consults with the leaders of all five political parties before deciding upon submitted applications, but concerns have been raised over the level of scrutiny the decisions are being given.
