The start of Bolton Food and Drink Festival has been delayed due to the impact of Storm Lilian. The event, which is expected to be attended by around 500,000 people across the Bank Holiday weekend, was due to get underway at 11am today (August 23) with around 200 food traders, live entertainment and appearances from celebrity chefs including Ainsley Harriott and James Martin.
However, the impact of the weather - which has seen heavy winds of up to 60mph hit the city-borough - has seen the event’s beginning now delayed until at least 2pm.
Photos taken in Bolton Town Centre this morning showed a number of stalls across the festival site tipped over due to the winds.
