Bobby Brazier had his dad Jeff in tears as he accepted the award for Rising Star at the National Television Awards. The 20 year old actor, who plays Freddie Slater in BBC One soap EastEnders, was also emotional when he picked up the gong at the ceremony held at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday, 5 September.
Bobby had been sat in the celebrity audience with his dad, TV presenter Jeff Brazier, 44, and his EastEnders co-star Molly Rainford, prior to collecting the prized trophy at the awards show hosted by comedian Joel Dommett.
Speaking from the stage, he said: "I've been thinking about what I might say over the last couple of days and it's become very, very obvious. "This actually has very, very, very little to do with me and everything to do with my dad...
over the course of the last 20 years I've consistently heard him say, 'Because I can', it was a mantra or a motto of his, and him just saying that, 'Because I can!' you know, why not?" Jeff smiled and wiped his eyes as Bobby spoke, while he was hugged by Anna Knight actress, Molly.
