Netflix has closed another major deal at the European Film Market, dropping a reported $55 million for worldwide rights to the Christian Bale Gothic horror-thriller The Pale Blue Eye from director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Black Mass).

The film focuses on an attempt to solve a series of murders that took place at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1830.

Oscar-winner Bale reunites with Cooper, director of the 2017 Western Hostiles, playing a veteran detective who investigates the murders, helped by a young-cadet who will later become world-famous author, Edgar Allan Poe.
