According to a source, the 26-year-old model is on medical leave, and being treated daily for her Lyme disease — and not in rehab, despite reports. “Bella Hadid has been on medical leave for the past four months, and is in daily treatment for Lyme disease,” a source tells ET. “Nine months ago, Bella decided she wanted to stop drinking, so she stopped.

According to the CDC, “Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States. Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and rarely, Borrelia mayonii.

It is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans.
