BBC Radio 2 listening figures plunge after veteran DJs dumped from station

The latest audience numbers, which were released on Thursday morning, have shown that bringing in younger presenters is doing the station no favours.Zoe Ball's breakfast show has lost the most weekly listeners among the main BBC stations.
Despite this though, it is still the most listened to programme on that time on the wireless, with a weekly audience of 7.1 million.The stats reveal overall the show's total was down 359,000 in 2022's last quarter.
That's in comparison with the same period a year prior, with all major BBC stations seeing a flop in listeners, writes The Mirror.Within the past six six months, big stars like Paul O'Grady, Steve Wright, Vanessa Feltz, Craig Charles, Steve Wright and Ken Bruce all left Radio 2.Feltz told This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield after Scots radio star ken's move from the station was announced: "Well I haven’t’ spoken to him personally [Bruce], but I imagine it’s a feeling of some sense of ageism at the BBC.
