BBC Olympic closing ceremony viewers say 'that was epic' as Tom Cruise makes dramatic appearance

Viewers of the BBC Olympic closing ceremony were left with 'goosebumps' after Tom Cruise's 'epic' entrance into the stadium on Sunday (August 11).

The Mission Impossible star delighted the crowds in Stade de France as he descended into the stadium from the roof. After greeting Olympians in the crowd, he shook hands with the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, before taking the Olympic flag from her.

The Hollywood star then hopped on to a motorcycle to take the flag on a joyride out of the stadium. A video showed Cruise riding past classic Parisian landmarks like the Eiffel Tower before arriving at an airport. The dramatic clip, showing Cruise almost re-living the role of Ethan Hunt from hit film series Mission Impossible, quickly caught the attention of viewers who shared their thoughts on the stunt on social media.
