BBC hit with 181 complaints by viewers who slammed charity event Big Night In for ‘offensive language’

BBC's coronavirus charity event, Big Night In, was hit with 181 complaints by viewers. The complaints team was inundated with messages from viewers who found content included in the celebrated evening "offensive". ⚠️ Read our coronavirus live blog for the latest news & updates The fortnightly report released by the corporation reveals the number of complaints about programmes which received more than 100 complaints, and the 23 April special received 181.

The Executive Complaints Unit will now investigate the complaints. BBC's Big Night In was a collaboration between Comic Relief and Children In Need.

It aired between 7pm and 10pm and saw a series of pre-recorded sketches including a reunion between Catherine Tate's bovvered Lauren and her.
