Jon Kay and Nina Warhurst were forced to apologise and issue an explanation as they hosted BBC Breakfast. The pair were back at the helm of the BBC One news programme on Tuesday (September 20), the day after the broadcaster aired blanket coverage of the Queen's state funeral.
Jon typically presents alongside co-host Sally Nugent on a Tuesday but the 51-year-old was nowhere to be seen on the first show following the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Nina, however, has regularly been seen holding down the fort solo while Jon and Sally ditched the Salford studio in recent days to appear outside Westminster and Buckingham Palace.
On today's show, as they both appeared on the famous red sofa, Nina asked her co-host what it was like being in London over the past week, to which he responded: "It's been a privilege.
