A baby has been taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle collision in Altrincham, fire services have confirmed. Emergency services were scrambled to Shaftesbury Avenue in Timperley at around 12.20 this afternoon following reports of a 'serious' road traffic collision.
The road remains closed, with North West Air Ambulance and police in attendance. Follow live updates from the scene here Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) say two cars collided head on - one of which had a baby on board.

Drivers are being encouraged to seek alternative routes. A GMFRS spokesperson said: “At around 12.20pm on Sunday 9 October, firefighters were called out to a road traffic collision on Shaftesbury Avenue, Timperley. “Two fire engines, from Stretford and Withington, attended the scene where two cars had collided head on.
